Steve Mohr

Head Coach

Coach Steve Mohr's passion is coaching basketball!

After coaching for 26 years, his career came to a halt due to health issues after coaching Wynford in the 2013-14 season. "When I took the job last time, I had been diagnosed with an incurable cancer earlier," Mohr said. "Unfortunately, despite the fact we didn't think things were going to progress, they did and I had to step down to go through chemo and a stem cell transplant.  "That's no longer an issue, I'm at a place right now and I thank God that I'm in a position where I can pursue my passion. This is my job, this is the only job I have. I'm in as good of a place health-wise as I've been in a long, long time."

After stepping down in December 2015, Mohr decided to come out of retirement and return to the place he coached last.  "I can't express how excited I am," Mohr said. "It's not very often in life you get a second chance and in terms of pursuing your passion, I've been given a third chance.

Coach Mohr was the head coach at Buckeye Central from 1982-85 (His 1st team went undefeated and went to the State Finals), Shelby from 1985-94, Elyria West in the 1994-95 season before the school closed, Marion Harding from 1995-97, then Colonel Crawford from 1997-2000 and 2001-06.  With over 300 wins, Coach Mohr is considered one of the top coaches in Mid-Ohio.   Coach Mohr also served the Wynford School District as Superintendent before retiring.

Coach Mohr's vision for The Wynford Basketball program is: "To be the preeminent basketball program in the0 and North Central Ohio."

Coach Mohr has been married  to his Wife, Dona for 41 years!  Dona is a proud Wynford graduate!  They have a daughter; Taylor, and son; TJ - both Wynford graduates!
